Default Underpowered 6000k's? Yellowing on bottom? (Pics)

I've got a little problem, which hopefully should be fixed by tomorrow when Jason sends me a new wiring harness under warranty. The situation is that I believe I messed up when I used lower gauge wire to extend the power chord for my HID kit. Thus, causing less than adequate amounts of power to enter the ballasts to ignite the 6000k's to make them maintain their "normal" color. Below are pics of what I see during daytime. From afar they look good in the day but at night it's white with a yellow strip covering 25% of the bottom of my headlights -- no hint of blue whatsoever.

Here's a pic of what I'm talking about (remember .. this is in the daytime when they look purple).

Yo Brendan -

What gauge wire did you use? You mentioned that you used a "lower gauge" wire...which means a thicker wire than what was supplied. Is that what you mean? Or did you use a thinner wire (higher gauge)?

I used the same gauge, same thickness....but I will check out my lights tonight to see if I got the yellowish color.

Hope the change in wire resolves this problem for you. Let us know how it turns out.

Peter

Thicker or thinner than the wiring setup supplied with the kit?

Sorry, I meant higher gauge

The one that came with the wiring harness was 12 gauge and I used 16 gauge (thinner). Also, when connecting all this, I never removed any of the fuses (not an electrical savvy type guy) -- fuses didn't blow but I dont know if that has anything to do with it.

Also something strange I noticed was that the one little black thin rectangular box that holds that yellow fuse ..... i took that yellow fuse out and turned on my lights and they still ignighted! wtf?

Also note that I did this a long time ago and I always thought that this was the way the lights were supposed to look -- until my friend got his kit and I talked to rominl about his ...

yah.....a higher gauge wire (thinner wire) will affect the light output.

I hope it did NOT burn the insulation on the 16 gauge.

I believe it possibly did. The good thing though is that Jason sent me out a replacement harness and that should arrive at my place tomorrow. We'll know for sure whether this is the problem tomorrow. Also, this is another great example of how amazing it is to deal with Jason (DiscountCycle).

Update ... just to test it out, I went and bought 12 gauge wire and took out my old higher gauge wire and replaced it with the new 12 gauge. Same situation, no difference. I probably caused some damage to other parts of the wiring harness I believe. Tomorrow we'll see what's up when I put a brand new harness on there.

The stock wire gauge is 12 right??

Brendan -

I do NOT see any yellow in my housing. Im thinking the crystals that create the pruple/blue hue for the 6000K temp. in the bulbs were somehow affected.

Is Jason willing to replace the bulbs? Is that under warranty too?

I think so too ... I'm not sure ... I definately hope so. He mentioned that he had the 1 year warranty on the "whole kit".

Ugh.. this is making me have a horrible start to my day
