bulbs and colors
i've tryed alot of different bulbs before but i never really got what i was looking for. i want something real white, like a nice ice white or something that i have seen on other cars.
i'm not into all these "super white xenon" kinda things cause they always turn out to have a blue color into it.
alot of the bulbs on ebay are generic and give me that blue look or sometimes arent every bright at all.
i have a 1991 LS400 and i was wondering what you guys would reccomend. i see alot of you reccomend the PIAA xtereme super white. is it possible to have any pics so i can see the color?

I have the PIAA extreme whites (4150K) in my G35 and they look white if you look into the light. However, when they reflect off of other cars, especially white ones, you can notice a touch of blue (which I like).
You might try the Sylvania Silver Stars. You can find them for around $40 a pair and they always have a $10 mail in rebate. I think they are rated around 4000K?

I also have PIAA Xtreme Whites on my 2001 ES300, and they're just as good, if not better, as from the Silverstars I had on my previous ES. I got the PIAA set for $58 from an online vendor. Yes, the Silverstars are rated at 4000K. Both of these bulb brands, IMO, are the best advanced halogens around the automotive industry

yeah i got a pair of silverstars and i had them in for awhile. I didnt find them bright as i wanted, something about it made me feel like it was the same as the stock ones.
overall i think they were very good replacements, but i was looking for something more brighter. I think that my headlamp aim has to do something with it, but i dont know how to adjust my headlamps at all.
anyone know how to adjust them for a 1991 LS400?
also is there anyway to change the wiring so i can use a different brighter bulbs? 9004 bulbs have a very weak wattage IMO.

PIAA has me confused with their naming system. There's the Xtreme White, Xtreme White Plus, and another one I can't remember the name of, where the bulb looks like it has a violet coating.

sqaurehat, i think its just typical marketing just to make you buy their products. I bought their #168 so called "Xtreme White Bulb" with H.I.D writen all over. After i installed them it basically came out blue to me and of course no where around HID which i already figured.
Looks like i'm aiming for some PIAA Xtreme white plus or maybe some Razo platinum's. But for now i think i should switch back to my silverstars. also thinking of purchasing new sidemaker lights, i dont like the look of those PIAA's i bought. The white LED bulbs on ebay to me look truly white.
Any of you guys here sugguest anything else that can help me achive better lighting besides an HID kit?these 9004 bulbs are too weak IMO maybe theres away to get a strong wattage?

I love my Silverstars so far. They do cost around $40, and you can find rebates, depending on where you shop.
I swapped stock 9006's to 9005's.
You might as well... All the components for the high's are the exact same for the low's. Seems fairly obvious the low beams will hold 65w from the 9005 step up.
I give them mad props on low cost for what they do. Awsome.

Over Six Hundred Watts ....LOOK https://www.clublexus.com/gallery/sh...rt=1&thecat=998 .
If you use DOT aproved bulbs they will have a lower wattage than non Dot aproved, the Piaa bulbs are Dot Aproved so lower wattage........the K rating is the color the bulb gives off ..........4000k and under looks yellow .......then white next then blue.......7000k and up becomes purple....the K rating does not make the bulb brighter its the watts! Now HIDs are only 35watts but totally different bulb....it dosn't have a filament......and soon to be illegal!!!!!!!!!!
