Is this ban only for North American sellers? Or World-wide sellers? Does it punish North American buyers? Just wondering....anyone know?

i wanna know too, seems like it's only on US sellers. if that's the case, does that mean we can still get it from autolamps? they are in UK.

Somebody posted a while ago saying that autolamps-online also would stop after 8/15/03.

I think they can still sell it, just not to the US. US customers are out of luck.

Yes, which is why the market will dry up pretty quick after the proposed fine for HID kit sales comes into action. There's no way to get them legally in the U.S. either. No legitimate company will ship to the U.S. because there is a $5,000 fine per recorded sale.

Umm actually, the fine is $5,000/day for overt sales and there is no way the US government can fine or regulate anyone operating outside of the United States. The most that could happen is that US Customs seizes the package in transit, and even then, the recipient has every right to claim it at Customs. I doubt it would even come to that since Customs doesn't know how to look for HID kits nor do they even care. Hell you could ship bootleg DVDs and computer software from Hong Kong with Pirated Media Inc. on the envelope and it would still get to your house. I'll bet that Autolamps will continue selling stateside after the 15th.

hahah

import 5000 kits, and sell them all in one day in a very organized group buy and pay the 5k fine for one day sales

I dont know, all this means is OEM HID thefts will skyrocket as people bust apart OEM HID systems to upgrade their vehicles...

OEM HIDs will be only source for upgrades yes? if so I feel bad for EVERYONE with OEM HIDs

i kinda agree with lex400sc too, i don't know how they are able to ban the imports, unless they make another law saying something like "importing hid is just like importing heroin"?
