HELP! Anyone with a GS400430 with factory spoiler?
I am trying to solve this big mystery regarding us, "GS car owners with a dealer installed spoiler" on our cars!
When the dealer installs the spoiler with the brake light on it, the arrangement/connection involves having both brake lights functional (inside the car and on the spoiler). If you remove the brake light inside the car, the lamp failure indicator comes on the dash.
Afterward some research, I discovered there is a lamp failure sensor which detects the amount of wattage being used by the brake lights. If one of the brake lamp is out, there would be less wattage, causing the indicator inside the dash to come on.
I guess there is another sensor for car with the factory spoiler. Since, the brake light on the spoiler is LED, it should use less wattage than the ones inside the car (5W each, 5 lamps).
If someone can help me determine the part number and nameplate information on the sensor, I would greatly appreciate it! A picture would be nice too!
The sensor is located behind the left side of the trunk lining. Takes out two plastic retainers and the lining comes out. An upper 10mm nut secures the sensor. Loosen the nut and the sensor drops down in view.
Thanks,
Bruce

Correct
Correct, Henry!
We have dealer installed spoiler, with both lights. Trying to eliminate both lights from working at the same time. Want to eliminate the one inside the car without the stupid dash light coming on. I have tried to tape the "4th" terminal at the sensor, but that didn't work!
I figured if someone with a FACTORY spoiler, can tell me what the part number/nameplate information on the sensor (hoping it will be different than mine!), I will order it.
Thanks,
Bruce

Why dont you just pull 4th pin out? Even easier, cut the wire that leads to it.
If the warning light is still goes on, then I would advise you to check your other brake light bulbs.

brake lights
Pete,
I am trying to keep the dash light functional. I believe if I order the right lamp failure sensor (about $30), it should work. I will be able to monitor the other lights. The sensor senses a certain wattage throughout the system, if it senses less than specify, then it will activate the dash light. For example, the interior brake lights, there are 5 bulbs, each is 5W, with a total of 25W. The spoiler brake is much less because of the LED design. Therefore, I believe there is another sensor out there. So far, I have looked at Camry, LS, and IS sensor, none is what I am looking for. I even try to ask the dealer if there is a GS400/430 on their lot I can look at. None was available at the time. So, the search continues....
I guess I am looking for a better mouse trap. Hopefully, it will benefit us owners with this issue.
Thanks..
