Dude....8000K will be blue lookin....movin towards purple. Stick with 6000K or below...unless you want the ricer look.

Try the Ultinons (6000K) first. You won't be disappointed. I parked my G with the Ultinons next to a 350Z with stock HID's and it made the stock HID's look like they were halogen.

al503 - Thanks for the info, I emailed that address at the bottom of the thread, hopefully someone will get back to me...

So most of you GS owners out there are using 6000K ? I always thought the 7000K and up where just a little bit better...maybe im wrong...or maybe I just like the pinkish tint...i dunno...but I cant go wrong if all of you guys are using 6000K.

Thanks for the info guys - im sure this question has been asked many many times but hey look to the side under my name....im a "driver school candidate"

this is the whole point of a forum like this. your typical stock 4100-4300K hids will put out around 3000 to 3500 lumens. The 6000K ultinons will put out around 2800 lumens. it's the best in terms of light output AND color IMHO. When going up to 7-8K, the bulbs are usually tinted which reduces light output even further. Some people also complain about eye fatigue also. You won't regret the Ultinons.

yes, al503 is right on. the higher the k, the bluer and dimmer it is. the point of hid is the brightness and how good it lights up the road. going to 6000k+ above you are like trying to defect the whole purpose

If you say is true, then since the brightness of the light output is determined by the amount of Lumens, therefore stock HID actually provides the best light output for brightness and safety, albeit looking a little yellow. There's this E46 M3 yesterday that was right on my tail and it was using some super bright blue HID kit which I am sure is the 6000k ultinons and it was blinding me through my rearview mirrors, as if the BMW is using his high beams on me. Sure it looks great, but I really don't know how safe it is and if I would like to be on the other side of traffic oncoming to him with that way-too-bright lights.

well I got the email back from the provider of the D2R bulbs and here it is guys his email is
jus4bulbs@yahoo.com

MY EMAIL TO HIM:
Hello,

My name is Andy and I got this email from Clublexus.com. I own a 01 GS430 and unfortunately I dont like the stock HID look, I believe its around 4500K. I would like to purchase 6000K bulbs that would fit my car exactly with no modifications or having a bulb that is rebased, my question is....do you carry such a bulb and if so..how much including shipping to Sacramento, CA?

Thanks much,
-Andy

HIS EMAIL TO ME: <jus4bulbs@yahoo.com>

"yes i have it,
did your car use projector lights? or reflector lights?

if your car use reflector lights, then you need D2R 6000K, the price is 259.00 shipped.

if your car use projector lights, then you need D2S 6000K, the price is 241.40 shippped.

the reason their price is different is new D2R bulbs come with Business packing.
and D2S is industry packing."

Hope this info helps all others out there
