Default Driving light input wattage?

Another question on lighting...
For the daytime running lights. What is the maximum input wattage that is specified for the light? In the manual its says 60W i believe for the 9005. I know that these run on 50% power in daytime. 100% or more on high-beam.

The nicer aftermarket bulbs are like 80 or 100W low-beam. the bulbs i specifically are wanting are 100W. The point is that I was trying to get a blue bulb for the daytime running lights. ('99 GS400 / HID)

Some where in the line is a resistor that cuts the voltage you need to located it and remove it, because no matter what bulb you but in will not look the way you want.

I guess the main question is if I install a bulb that requires 80 or 100W input.... Will this be too much wattage to run "safely"?

it's beyond unsafe. when you do high beam, any time, it will be 100w going to the bulb instead of 60w. almost 70% increase in power, bad idea

thanks for the advice, yeah 100w applied sounded like it would be 'overkill'

it would also be blinding to others. 100 divided by 2 ( if it really is 50% for daytime lights) would be 50watts. thats almost like driving with your high beems on all the time. it would probly do some serious damge to wiring.;
