who makes the brightest 1157 bulb style amber LEDs?
I have seen several of them on the market and tried quite a few.
None could even come close to the intensity of the regular 1157 bulbs.
where can I get them?
(obviously I can do it the hard way, which is to get a LED panel from a
truck LED turn signal and modify my tail-light... but I don't want to
be that extreme... hehehehe
Thanks!

I've been in search of the brightest LED as well. So far the best 1157/1156 website I have come across is:
ledtronics.com
Click on 'Automotive Based LEDS'
Click on '1157/1156 15mm' link.
The bulbs have a total of 24 LEDS, with some of them shooting out the side of the lense, so it should give a total 180 degree source of light.
I have not tried them myself, but I assume the regular 1157 incandescent bulbs are still brighter.
Oh, and yeah each 1157 LED bulb costs $37.50 (a piece)
Conclusion, I gave up on going with the conversion to LED. I love the LED look, but the light beam pattern is too focused and narrow, hence not giving the degree of light a regular bulb would.
Hopefully someone on the forum can chime in with helpful info on LED, but so far the several LED bulbs I have tried were pretty much useless.
Thanks

for my cars. (basically bought at least a pair of each of their LED lights)
They were very well made and appear quite bright.
Unfortunately, they were also very dim once installed.
I ended up retuning all the LED lights for a full refund... at least they
were pretty friendly and fast during the refund process. I even got
the shipping charges refunded.(both ways!)
Well... I'll keep on looking... the only likely solution is the legal
truck / bus LEDs... perhaps I'll just those and somehow modify them...?
