Default 2000 ls400 new or reman ALT

Are any of these reliable and good options?

my 2000 Lexus ls400 is at the shop and I was informed I would need a new Alt and Battery. There charging 1400+ for parts and labor. The Toyota/Lexus dealer is charging 433.38 after tax I just need to know where to get a good alternator. Mind you the one that’s on there came from a mom and pop shop…

How much for labor alone? Alternator replacement is straightforward as I see

I don't like any of those options I would go with this
https://www.lexuspartsnow.com/parts/...-50230-84.html
or this
Amazon Amazon

The Toyota/Lexus dealer is charging 433.38 after tax
That includes the OE alternator and installation?

That's a good price, but note there is a core charge and of course shipping this often makes it cheaper to walk into your local dealer.

I Might go with the one from Amazon. What's wrong with ones from rockauto?

Aftermarket brands range from okay to terrible. It is common to see people go through 3-4 alternators, all bad.

You want a DENSO reman.
RA used to sell them not sure what happened to their inventory...

It appears that Denso remanufactured alternators are no longer available (they're not in the Denso catalog).

I read they're manufactured in America but the one on Amazon says made in China

Possible. My guess is no, these have not been remanufactured for awhile now. More and more Lexus parts are being made in China for new models, and replacement parts for older cars as well. I won't buy Lexus transmission filters anymore they are made in China and look awful.

Most reman Denso's I install are made in the U.S. and look like this

RA still offers a DENSO Alt for the 430 which is 130 amp compared to the 400's 100 amp. All things considered, if they're no longer available, upgrading to the 430 version may be the way to go.
