I scanned the "sticker" card that I received from the second owner and am trying to figure out how to attach it here.
And woo hoo! there it is. And that's about all the data I have from the original sale. Hillard Lexus in Fort Worth was the original dealer.
I was referring to the green rectangle in the photo of that car's firewall, but mentioned a white rectangle in the second set of photos from the 1997 Celsiors I posted

Would you mind taking a photo of your engine bay with the UCF20 stamp visible (you don't have to show your build number).

I'm really curious now!! This is the first counterexample I've heard of!

Maybe now we can finally get to the bottom of this

My 98 US LS400 standard suspension is stamped UCF20. There is no color green anywhere, it's the same silver of my car.

CELSI0R, that panel is the raw chassis of the car. Your rectangle is green because your chassis is green. The entire chassis of the car is painted the body color, regardless if it's exposed or covered by plastics.

What a confusing cluster 😂. I had no idea, the more I dug into it the more confusing I got (hence me editing my post multiple times). I never realized the depth of the differences, nor how they varied potentially between LS400's and Celsiors. And... not only that, but also the weirdness of the 97' model year where there is a huge variance in what the car actually is.

To be clear, I was referring to the body color rectangle on the firewall

I mentioned "green" because the first car I posted was green, and later mentioned "white" for the two white Celsiors I posted

This is a standard suspension car

Meanwhile, these air suspension equipped 1997 Celsiors denote "UCF21~..." in the white rectangle on the top of the firewall, and the build number which is blocked

Wait what how did I misread... my apologies. For some reason I misread it as there was some sort of stamp or designation, rather than you defining it as more or less the chassis color. My reading interp failed me!

I can't blame you. I missed the part where you mentioned the discussion around the air suspension

Now, I really want to see cj98ls' chassis code!!

30 years and there's always something new to learn about these cars!

Yup, that's why I said "colloquially", because that's up until today I had always seen the cars been referenced using the 11\21 model designating the facelift refresh. Just always thought that was the layperson's language, especially since that's also the language on the lexls site:
https://www.lexls.com/info/lsgenerations.html

Wild stuff. What a journey.

I'm terrible with the android camera in this frickin' tablet! The image I took is pretty bad, but I will try again tomorrow when the sun is out and I maybe will be able to get a better image. Suffice it to say for the moment that my firewall code is identical to 400fanboy's, UCF20, followed by the serial number. Have a good evening!

That's ok, yours could be a unique build which is pretty cool

EDIT: The reason I'm very interested as well, is the options chart for UCF2x Celsior shows that only UCF21s could have air suspension equipped

This is a translation from the 1998 brochure:

Referencing Toyota's site, "C-Spec" is UCF21
https://www.toyota-global.com/compan...321/index.html

Here is the official copy of the Toyota UCF2x brochure, untranslated:
http://www.toyota.co.jp/jpn/company/...5.html#page=57

See page 57

I found another post you guys might enjoy on decoding the meaning of the full chassis code:
http://members.iinet.net/~stepho/newcodes.htm

Granted, it doesn't include the UCF platform; however using the earlier example in this thread:

UCF20L-AEAGKA

UCF20 = LS 400, 1UZ-FE
L = Left hand drive
-
A = A Platform
E = 4 door sedan
A = 5-speed floor mounted automatic transmission
G = Higher grade trim level
K = Twincam, EFI (economy)
A = United States destination

Another update (maybe I'll start a new thread on this later)

I decided to go to some parts catalogs to continue researching, and found this:
https://www.amayama.com/en/genuine-catalogs/lexus/ls400

Which shows that for the US, Middle East, and Europe that all cars were either UCF10L/R or UCF20L/R!

This makes me wonder if UCF11 and UCF21 were higher trimmed Japanese market exclusive platforms!

You will also find that under suspension parts, the diagrams show both air suspension and a standard strut:
https://www.amayama.com/en/genuine-c...5/chassis/4803

Based on this new finding, it looks like UCF*0 was in every market, and UCF*1 was JDM only

I got the picture you were seeking. It's not great, admittedly, but it should do.

Well the rest of the thread seems to be resolving itself thanks to Celsior's research.

In case of a JDM Celsior, the best way to know the detail is to see the caution plate.

You are welcome. I think I need to add this. There are this much of model variations. As you see the table, the facelift models with a VVT-i engine were started the manufacturing from July 1997.

I usually use the site called partsfan.com for the parts search. You need to register if you want to know the detail with drawings. Once you register, the initial page becomes like this. You can select the language both in English or in Japanese.
