I usually pressurize the bleeder and bleed air from the hose before connecting it to the bleeder adapter. This minimizes the air introduced into the MC/brake fluid.
Depressurize the bleeder BEFORE removing the bleeder hose from the adapter. Don't drip brake fluid on any painted surface. It will bubble and remove the paint.
Bleeding is a bit more controllable the old fashioned way (see attached) and will minimize the risk of getting a DOT-3 shower.
