Default 2000 LS seems like not getting enough fuel when trying to start

So I posted before I bought this going off PO , but now after getting it home , charged battery fully and only codes are from driver and passenger solar sensors. Pcv was broken replaced and it tries to start. Catches barely and tries to run then dies. I was thinking fuel pump because I can’t hear it but it does try to start. Is it possible it only gets a small amount of fuel on start? I was thinking relay or fuel pump but I’m brand new to these cars. 128k on car ANY ideas would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Fuel pump only spins with engine RPM, IIRC. You wouldn't hear it prime at key on.

Check function/continuity of EFI/fuel pump relays/fuses first.

Pull a plug and ground it while starting to make sure you have spark also.

Cheap checks before you throw parts at it.

Doesn't matter what the gauge says, is there ACTUALLY fuel in the tank?

I have not had a reason to try this but have read about others doing this. Before trying this, let's confirm with others that this is a good way to eliminate the possibility of the fuel pump being the problem.

Note that some vehicles don't have every terminal slot in the connector populated.

Once the obvious things are eliminated, you may want to try this. - locate the Diagnostic Connector under the hood (and under the engine cover). The connector is attached to the driver side of the intake manifold towards the top. The connector looks like this:

Typical Toyota Diagnostic Connector

Flip the cover off and you'll see a greasy mess along with some terminals. Note the legend inside the lid and locate the "FP and +B terminals.

Typical interior of Diagnostic Connector showing fuel pump and positive battery terminals.

Take a short length of wire, strip the insulation of the ends and jumper the FP and +B terminals. This will bypass the fuel pump circuit and run the fuel pump. Try to start the the engine. If the engine starts, there's an issue with the fuel pump circuit that turns the fuel pump on.
