Default LS & SC rear caliper differences?

Hi there,

Are there any major differences between the rear brake calipers on the LS vs the SC? Piston dimensions and so on?

I assume they mount differently (brackets etc) ... or maybe not.

More interested in the rest of it. The "guts" so to speak.

I have both cars in my "stable", wondering about part interchangeability.

Looking at the parts diagrams for 97 - 00, the caliper part numbers are different

https://www.amayama.com/en/catalogs/...dust-cover-144

LS400 - 47750-50140, 47730-50140
SC400 - 47730-24070, 47750-24070

All the internal components are different part numbers too. I don't have a definitive answer, but it doesn't look good.

This also depends on what years LS and SC you're wondering about

As mentioned, the part numbers are different

If you want to be 100% sure between your cars, the best thing will probably be to pull the rear wheels off of both and compare

Thanks for the info.

The reason I ask is I'm having a tough time getting my hands on the rebuild (seal) kit for the SC. (it's a '94)
Did a bit of digging myself and from what I can find, the piston diameters appear to be the same or very similar (43mm).
Really just trying to figure out an alternate source for the seals/boots without just buying and hoping for the best.

I realize there may be other relevant differences.

Thanks for looking into it

Edit ... just eyeballing the two drawings, there are obvious differences between the pistons and seals.

The calipers may be different but the kits appear to be the same. Granted, RA isn't gospel, but their catalog shows the SC400 caliper kit fits multiple models and years.

To be clear though, this doesn't show the LS and SC using the same rebuild kits, going back to OP's question

After doing some more digging online it appears that the nose on the SC's piston is smaller than the one on the LS. My guess is the LS pads are bigger (more surface area), which explains the bigger diameter.

Here's what me going on this fact finding mission. Bought a couple of rebuilds for the SC and this is what I got. I realize this is the LS forum but in all honesty, the guys here seem to take this stuff more seriously and know a heck of a lot more in general. I use both. Take a look at the pistons ...
