Can try glue but it may not hold for long. Another solution is to get a brass fitting at an auto parts store, one with threads and a nut on both sides.
Tools Required:
1 ea. - 1/8" NPT Tap
Tap handle or open end wrench
Fine tooth file
Procedure:
Remove the intake duct and box from vehicle.
Check the hole where the nipple broke off. Make sure that there is some meat to make some threads.
File the opening of the hole (kinda) flat. This will make starting the tap straight easier.
Tap the hole with the 1/8" NPT tap. Go slow. Turn CW ~1/8 turn. Then turn CCW ~1/8 turn to break off the chips. Go SLOW. You don't want to crack the box.
Tap until you have at least 3/15" of threads into the hole. The threads are tapered so don't go too deep.
Test fit with the fitting.
Tighten the fitting - don't reef on it.
No sealer is needed. No adhesive is needed.
At first, I used this nipple. I decided to use the Earl's part because it has a bead and not a barb. I figured it would be less stress on the repair when I remove the hose in the future.
Pick yourself up some of this stuff right here, and make sure to use plenty of patience, it doesn’t always work out in a delicate situation like yours but I have had pretty good luck myself. Even if you have to get 1/4 barb from the parts store, you can use this to ensure a nice tight fitting if you seal it up using this also. Your other option is to find a Lexus in the Pick& Pull with a 1UZ/3UZ air even eBay, you just need the air intake housing. There should be a few available. Since they get swapped out for cold air intakes pretty frequently.
