2000 LS400 Stereo Replacement - Want to use the factory subwoofers but don't know how
I recently bought a 2000 Lexus LS400 along with a BOSS Double-Din Touchscreen multimedia receiver/stereo (specifically the BVCP9700A). I understand that it is complicated to get access to the factory subwoofer when installing a new stereo in the 2nd Gen LS400's and was wondering what I should do so that I can keep my factory subwoofers. The car just has the regular Premium Sound System stereo (NOT the Nakamichi one). I have already bought the Metra 70-1761 Wiring Harness. What else must I do and/or buy to get the factory subwoofer to work? Any help is appreciated.
That harness isn't going to work; it only works on the 90-92s IIRC. You need either a Beatsonic SLA-22 (which aren't sold anymore, but they come up for sale somewhat frequently in the Facebook groups/Yahoo Japan), or, if you're feeling richer, a Kanatechs TBX-Y019: https://www.peterscarparts.net/produ...d4de1e39&_ss=c
I think both of these are just line output converters specifically made for ours to make aftermarket head units plug and play.
Only some skilled people can do the replacement job seeing and analyzing the wiring diagram below. The bus control signals need to be analyzed precisely and make a gadget to control the amplifier. It is not easy for average DIYers to complete the job. To use the SLA-22 is another choice but the availability is the problem.
Or you can add a monoblock for the subwoofer and dsp+power and route all speaker to make use of it. I've had it done 8 years ago. so far, no problem at all and sounds great.
Harnesses don't work. I bought two different ones and they both did not fit. I had to splice wires from the new head unit to the factory connector. You can connect the OEM door speakers/tweeters via a connector that you have to cut up on the stock amp. I also recommend just buying a new sub and a mono amp because I think it's too much work to figure it out.
