Rear Passenger Window Won't Open - 1995 LS400
Before I spend money I don't need to spend, I'm trying to identify the source of the problem with the Rear Passenger Window.
It won't go up or down, totally inoperable from both the driver's master switch and the door window switch. The remaining 3 windows work from both the respective door window switch and the master switch.
There is no sound from either the driver's switch or the door switch when I push the button to activate.
I've read numerous postings on the forum and one spoke of a reset option but I don't understand how to reset the button.
Most important, I am not a mechanic - I am a 77 year old woman trying to keep my Lexus going. Is it likely the Window Regulator. Your feedback is much appreciated.
Thanks -

Not trying to be intentionally unhelpful but if you are just trying to keep the car rolling down the road, at this point, does it really matter? Unless your A/C is shot I guess. When you do eventually sell it, some kid can tear the door apart and deal with it if he/she wants to.

Hi patbowen,
If the switch for the rear window had dirty contacts, the front master switch would still be able to operate the window
If the switch has completely failed and no contact can be made (or if there's a wiring issue), then the rear window would not work from either the rear window or master switch. This would be the same if the window regulator failed
The window switches are the same in the rear, just built into different ash tray / wood trim panels. You could try swapping the rear passenger window switches to see if the window operates with one and not the other. If the bad switch doesn't work for both rear windows, but the good switch does, then you know you need a switch
If the window still doesn't work after swapping switches, then you know for sure that you either having a wiring issue or need a new window regulator
1995+ LS 400s also have door ECUs, but I'll leave that out for now for simplicity...
I believe it's worth fixing, if you would like it to work. Let us know if you're able to try this out
EDIT: See 1:43 in this video for removing the window switch. It is quite easy and should be the same for 1995-2000:
