Total electric sutdown
My 92 LS400 Has suddenly developed these symptoms. On taking out the key after driving the steering wheel didn't retract in, so I put the key back in, no dash, gearlever, rear lights. The only lights are headlights,no indicators, reversing or breaklights.Car started & drove, power steering was heavy, no central locking. If I try anything I can here a slight clicking.
Can anyone help
Thanks
Alan

I went back out & tried it after about 1 hour, everything was ok.The same thing happened again tonight. At the weekend I had fitted a reversing aid that is wired through one of the reversing lights, I unpluged it after the second time but is was still the same. The only thing is working is the front & interior lights.

Alan, I think you may have a short in the steering column, something to do with the tilt telescop wheel. I have had a problem with mine for months It will not sit a week with out draining the battry. I noticed that sometime even with the automatic wheel button is off mine would still move the steering wheel. It would be nice to know if the wireing harness for the wheel , develops shorts due to wheel movement.

Thanks for the help, I have found out it is a large fuse ( 120 amp ) under the hood which controls most of the electrics. Ther are 4 large fuses which don't pull out that easy, somthing to do with a bolt under the fuse box.
