Default Original 1988 Lexus LS 400 Crazyness

Man this car is a classic example of japanese engineering...

I didn't even realize that it was amongst the first preordered LS 400 models after Lexus had introduced this model to the U.S. until a little while ago.

But damn, this 250 hp V8 Four Cam 3.2 brown machine must have been the **** back then because it has more options in it than my friends 350Z.

true, true...

http://www.lexus.com/about/history/index_1997_1983.html
they probably made some typos here but anyways the lexus flagship was preordered before it even hit the Lexus dealer lots

the only thing i don't really like bout the original is that they don't seem to have good sense of color seeing that the brown shade almost resembles that of a UPS truck

Ninja,

What is the color code? Is it the taupe color?

BTW, rotate your rims as they are backwards...look at the direction the fins point and the r and l have stamped letters to give you an idea.

That little history link from Lexus is interesting. From the looks of the 1985 LS400 prototype- it looks like the 1990 models. Amazing that even a car designed in the mid 80s was well ahead of its time when it was unveiled in 1989. I wonder if the 1985 LS400 prototype looked identical to the 1990 LS400. It would be interesting to see detailed photos of a 85-88 LS400 prototype.
Looks like the LS400 was introduced in January of 1989 (might as well say late 1988- as I am sure many folks seen it in late 1988) and available for sale in September 1989.

Well I guess it might be taupe or some other brownish color, but some parts are browner than others. I really don't see the point in finding out exactly what color code it is because your car should never be this color... I wish it was black

And damn I didn't know the wheels were the wrong way... must have happened when the tires and brakes were changed so I guess i'll get that fixed soon then shine up the browness around some more.

And yes it was seen by many enthusiasts during 1988, the preordering/purchasing of the original LS costed a grip back in the day.
