Default disabling automatic steering wheel adjustment

Does anyone know if it is possible to disable the automatic steering wheel adjustment (up/down) on the LS400 since it now does not move but just grinds? It appears that the motor has gone out and the Lexus dealer wants approx. $800 to replace. The manual does state to take it to the dealer to be disabled, but they have no clue how to do it.

I had the same problem. My motor went bad as well. You should do some shopping around local shops. I got a new motor put in for $500. Yes its expensive for ONE motor, but I had to get it done because my wheel was stuck wayyyy too high and wayyyy too in.

Ouch! Even $500 hurts since I only want to stop the grinding. My steering wheel is in a position that I can live with but the grinding when I take the key out is driving me to drink!!! Thanks for the tip.

I think he just wants to pull the power to the adjuster motor and leave it stationary.
