Hi, just joined the club today! I have a 93LS with 76K miles that I got back in Nov 02 from a local
Lexus dealer. Camry's and Cressida's had been my wheels for 15 years but decided to take a
step up and try the Lexus. So far, I have had the following work done by the Lexus dealer:
replace power steering pump (warranty replacement), alternator (just this month), oil changes and
tires balanced. Last year I had a Toyota dealer replace the timing and serpentine belts along with the
water pump. This year I had them do the overdue 60K mile service which required new spark plug
wires. When the Lexus dealer was working on the alternator problem, I had them check out a ratcheting
sound from the steering that only happens when you are manuevering in tight spots like a parking space
and when the weather is hot. They told me there is a bad valve in the steering box but it is not a repairable item. The complete box must be replaced for $950.00 but it is not a critical problem and does not have to
be done immediately. I have to think about that one for awhile. My wife is not pleased that I have spent
so much money on this car since Nov 02. Reminding her that the car is 11 years old doesn't cut it.
That's it! I'll check out the site a few times a week to see what's new and contribute if I can.
Thanks,
Don M
