Default Light Configuration

In my 96 LS400 manual, it says that I have 3 different bulbs in the headlight assembly: 1) High Beams (HB3), 2) Headlights - High and low beam (H4) 3) Fog Lights (HB4). My question is, does that sound right?
Does that mean that my main headlights are the H4's? So, when I want to upgrade to HID, I should replace the H4's, and the HB3's can remain the high beams?
What do you think? Any advice??

Here's a link to some light bulb applications: http://www.lexuspros.com/lampguide1.htm

I don't recommend upgrading your high beams to HIDs. You can change them to hyper-white bulbs to match the HID coloring for much cheaper.

Yes, the manual is correct.
Your regular headlight bulbs are H4.

The proper way to upgrade to HID's is to change the housing this way you get an accurate beam pattern otherwise your just going to get a scattered beam.

Your prolly thinking 98-00, Sharp.
Correct me if im wrong, but I dont think they make HID housings for the 96.

I wasn't thinking of a 98+.
They don't make one, you have to retrofit one like plenty of people have done on older Lexus's and other models.

How do I do that? How much will it run for?

This isn't for an LS but it might give you an idea of what's involved.
Our lights are a bit different but you might be able to get a few pointers from it.

This was done on a 92 SC 300 using Audi E46 projectors and 4300k HID kit.
