Simple Question, Help please
I have a 94 LS400. The car runs great. Every 5K I go to Jiffy Lube to have the oil and filter changed. I have read a lot of people using synthetic oil. I was thinking about changing the oil myself so I can get the synthetic oil. But I couldn't find the oil filter under the hood. I have done oil and filter changes on a few other cars and they were so easy. But I felt so stupid for the LS400. Where is the oil filter?
Thanks everyone response the question in advance.

Heres how you find it.
Click this link advance search type oil filter location. Go to search options, highlight Maintenance, click perform search and you will see the answer. Goodluck and welcome to CL

You can't see the filter looking at the engine bay.
Go underneath the car, remove the plastic panel just on the drivers side (if you have one) and bend it back and you'll see the filter.
It's located pretty much directly under the drivers side valve cover near the front of it.

You may want to do some more research before switching to synthetic after 10yrs of running conventional...from what I've read on CL, synthetics are thinner and more "slippery" than conventional, hence you may find some leaks after switching over.
Just something to consider.

You can try a synthetic just be aware that a synthetic may tend to migrate from seals and such due to the age of your car. If it is tight, no problems...then you can read all the discissions on the dino and synthetic that blanket the maintenace section. As the old saying goes..."don't fix what isn't broken."
