I originally just took the Muffler's out and left the resonators but it was still so quiet you couldn't tell they were gone.
Hey Rollin where did you get the cold air box?
How big is it, I have the RMM intake so will it fit it?
I was planning to do one myself but if there is already one out there for a good price then I'll just purchase one instead.
Thanks.

Ahh..actually I put it together myself out of some Home Depot goodies As far as pic's are concerned my Digital camara was dropped by my knot head son he's 12. So as soon as he replaces it(yeah right) I'll post some. As far as the actual install. I had some Blue High Pressure silcone hose and T clamps left over from my front mount install on my Buick. I went to HD and picked up some 3"PVC, a 90 elbow(makes 2 pieces), made a 4.5X6 piece of Plex for a MAF mount and went Medevial on it. I enclosed it with a Fabbed piece of thin Aluminium(before Med school I was a super for a Structural Fab Shop in case anybody's wondering) that was left over from my race car's interior tin work. Later guys Geoff

Alright John, found my track papers.

1.252
2.418
6.974
10.736
66.31
13.901
16.559
84.64

I guess the 10.736 is my 1/8 mile at 66.31 mph and the 16.559 will be my 1/4 at 84.64 mph.
Looking at it again, these numbers sucks! Look at how long it took me to start moving!
The time should be better when I remove my stereo and seal the air intake from the engine.

Lou,

Here is what your numbers mean:

1.252 -reaction time, time from green light till you are going
2.418 -60 foot time, should be better with your TC
6.974 -330 foot time, time from start to 330
10.736 -660 foot time (1/8th mile)
66.31 -1/8th mile MPH
13.901 -1000 foot time
16.559 -1/4 mile ET
84.64 -1/4 mile MPH

Typically, any reduction in 60ft time is worth 1.5 to 2.0 times that reduction in 1/4. A 2.20 60ft should give you a 16.2-16.3 ET. A 2.0 could put you in the 15s with NO other changes. Feeding your air filter cold air should be worth 0.1 to 0.2 ET and 1 to 2 MPH.

I have the 3 timeslips below:
3rd---------2nd---------1st run
0.968------0.775-------1.084-- reaction time
2.377------2.306-------2.337-- 60ft ET
XXX---------6.610-------6.635-- 330 ET
10.113-----10.126-----10.137-- 1/8th ET
72.72-------72.02-------72.17-- 1/8th mph
13.022-----13.083-----13.090-- 1000ft
15.484-----15.570-----15.574-- ET
91.22-------90.40------90.39-- MPH

The 1st run was right off the highway. The 2nd run was within 10 minutes of the first. The 3rd was after an hour cool down and the colder engine and air made more power as seen in the higher MPH in both the 1/8th and the 1/4. The clocks didn't record my 330 in the 3rd run (not common but does happen). You can look at the numbers to determine if different shift points and launch techniques help or hurt.

This is with the car BONE stock.

Default pwr ect switch?

hey Jbrady, yes when the Pwr Ect switch is on the car does seem to shift at a higer rpm range, but for some reason my car feels slower and also does this switch put more stress on the engine?

Thumbs up tip

what you guys can do when at the track is to remove your passenger side light housing, this will draw cold air into the intake. If you have a cone filter intake then i will be perfect. Behind the light housing is a hole, which the filter is behind it.. just a little tip.
P.s. leave your pwr switch on and turn off your od, this should help with a faster launch..
one question should i launch at idel or rev it, i've tryed reving it and droping it into 1st but i grinds sometime then takes off.. not a pretty sound.

I don't recommend a neutral drop (this is when you rev your engine in neutral and then drop it into drive) because you can say bye bye to your tranny! I found it better when I hold the brakes while in drive and rev it to about 3-4000 rpm and then launch it that way. Jbrady will know more about this. Jbrady....

As Lou stated, nuetral drops will DEFINITELY shorten the life of the tranny.

I do not recommend an open element filter unless it is isolated from engine heat and fed cold air. Removing the headlight definitely helps but detracts from the demeanor of the car. I haven't had time to develop my TB feed tube design and don't know when I will get around to it. Sorry guys...probably 1 to 2 months, who knows maybe sooner

Launch technigue is important. You want to cut a good light and get moving quickly. I actually went to the track last night to test a couple theories but got DQ'd in tech because a buddy had just got a beer at the consession stand and hopped in my car as I drove over to tech in. No Alcohol allowed in car, period, no arguement

My theory is that our cars should launch hardest/quickest from idle. At the last yellow go full throttle, this will get the most out of our mild torque converters. Lou, with the PI TC may get too much wheel spin this way. Power braking the TC removes its torque multiplication advantage. I power braked for the above 3 runs and think idle to full will be better. Lou should be MUCH better with his TC but he hasn't done it YET . Lou, we need to go to the track together and try this out.

BTW, getting DQ'd really sucked because I had lined up a race with a Lincoln Mark VIII, 32 valve, 4.6 liter, 290hp. He ran a 15.67 at 92.56mph. Would have been VERY close.

Sorry, that happened at the track... I guess it's better safe than sorry.....

I hope you get a chance to go at the Lincoln again.

Hahahahaha!!!!

Jbrady, you kill me!
All my stereo stuff is coming out because, well I'm getting sponsered and the store carries Eclipse stereo components as I have JL and Alpine stuff in my car. Oh well. Plus, they want to fiber glass my trunk so that would be lighter then the wood I have in my car right now.
Maybe we should go to the track sometimes next week before they start on my car and then I really would gain weight again.
I started on a preliminary outline of a heat shield for my intake. Hopefully be done sometime this weekend if I got the time.
I'll call yall if I plan to go next week.

I've bounced mine off the limiter, it does 150 quite happily and will do more.

ok, I went over 160 close to 170. That is on stock wheels, with 2 people in a car. I still don't know exactly what was done to that car since I got it on an auction. All I know it has custom exhausts and an ECU.

Sounds like BS but I did it and I can do it again, just give me straight runway.
Kinda scary when a freeway does a slow turn and my car is like a boat on those stock 15's. I did not notice any bad vibrations really.

Retrodrive,

You got your car at an auction and it has some kind of aftermarket ECU???? How do you know?? Did someone tell you or can you see it?? I'm sure many of your LS brethren would be interested in such a modification. Please enlighten us.
