Default Where to Buy Ball Joints? quick question

I need the ball joints replaced the front right side of my 1990 LS400. I searched through the forums and couldn't find reliable answers.

A) Do the ball joints press in, or does the entire arm have to be replaced?

B) If they can be pressed in and out, are they the same on the left side as on the right?

C) I can't find anyone selling either the arms or ball joints!

You don't need to press them in. You can buy them separately from the arms. I bought mine from www.olyonline.com

Not OEM, but pretty good and cheap too.

I recently changed out the lower ball joints on my 1991 LS400--easier than it looks. You need a pickle fork to seperate the balljoints from the control arm, but that's the only hard looking part. Got mine from NAPA Auto Parts--they ordered them and had them the next morning. Also, take a look at the Daizen bushings for your car. I recently traded for a 1996 and they're not available for gen 2 yet. Good luck!

Does this apply to all the ball joints? specifically the front and rear upper ball joints?

Thanks

Since we replaced the lower ball joints, I checked my Chiltons and they state that the upper ball joints are integral with the control arm, so you need to replace the whole unit. As for the rear upper bushings, they can be replaced without replacing the control arm. I suggest going by Half-price books and picking up a 89-93 import car manual by Chilton or find one on Ebay--they won't cost much--might even find one at Goodwill or Salvation Army! Thanks for the note and I hope it helps. One thing--be careful! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks for the confirmation on the ball joints, but the bushings in question are the rear LOWER bushings attached to the knuckle and what seems to be a "track rod".... I don't know whether that is the correct terminology for that piece, but the bushing is fairly worn because you can see the rubber bushing flex tremendously while wiggling the track rod. The car doesn't seem to have that smooth ride that everyone is praising.... I've just purchased brand new tires to be installed, and will be replacing the worn suspension pieces along with an alignment and hope to restore the ride very soon

thanks again.

Check ou the Daizen bushings for both the front and rear. The other posts seem real complimentary on them and I think they are supposed to last a lot longer than the stock bushings! Good luck.
