Default to upgrade or not?

Firstly, I lurve LS400s.

See the LS400 for sale here in the UK.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...491141239&rd=1

I'm extremely tempted, since I know it's been very well looked after, and the only car I would upgrade to is a Series 2 LS400 (since I love the shape!).

I've spent a lot of cash getting a full suspension overhaul on my Series 1 car this year, and there's a bit more engine work to do (spark plug wires, oxygen sensors, tps sensor) which I was gonna do myself. I'm up to 173k now.

However, the prospect of a mint Series 2 with low mileage is maybe too hard to pass up.

Having said that, at least I know my existing car, would a new purchase simply come with it's own set of problems? The seller claims it's fault free (i.e. LCD panel works, AC cold, suspension all fine, heated seats work).

Advice please...

Bear in mind that at current exchange rates a brand new LS430 over here would set me back the equivalent of $96,000!! So this Series 2 with low miles is prob gonna go for around $8,000. I could get maybe around $5,000 for my car.

Thanks Lexus dudes!

If the financial side works, I'd jump on a newer model. As good as these cars are, they are like any other machine that has seen many years of useage...things are going to have to be replaced. At some point it will be major...just a matter of when. A newer car the odds of such issues like tranny, motor...are lower.

I'd say stick with your 92, your not going to gain much by selling your 92 only to purchase a 94.
Just my two cents.

My bad by not checking the link. I was thinking UCF20/21 when you said second series. IMO, I'd go onto the next generation of the '95+ UCF 20 or the UCF 21.

Mucho gracias dudes.

Once again you guys have provided sensible advice to me!

When being realistic, I agree with you guys, that I'd best save up for a more recent model.
