There ARE red/clear crystal taillights for 98-00. I'm 100% sure.

Will take you about 2 months for you to get those because they produce them on order basis. I know because I have mine ordered already. Or you can wait for my pics.

Compare with normar red/white rears (item 202) and you will see HUGE difference.

Check here: http://www.original-net.co.jp/vipcar001.htm
Item number 252, third row. Expensive but worth every yen.

Darn you John for showing those. Those look nice!

Are the crystal lenses for the 95-97 the same pattern?

Can we get some serious proof of that?

And BTW, isn't this a pic of your LS (gathered from your ASA wheel thread in the LS forum)? From what I can tell, it looks like stock '01 tails to me..

they are the stock tails. I am paying 11grand to have a new roof put on my house. the new tails can wait a bit. do you want me to scan in the price quote I got from the dealer to prove what I am saying?

just got another email quote from lexus-parts.com . this is the result of cutting and pasting the reply . gonna look crappy but read the numbers.

Shopping Cart
Qty Description
Unit Price
Amount
8155150100-LENS & BODY, RR COMB $155.43 $155.43
8156150100-LENS & BODY, RR COMB $155.43 $155.43

To cancel a specific item, enter "0" for quantity
& select UPDATE ORDER. SUBTOTAL $310.86

I suggest calling or emailing and asking for Darrel Diller to confirm that they WILL fit on the 01-03 cars and whether they need amber bulbs or whatnot underneath. this is info I need as well so whomever wants to find out will be doing us all a favor. the local dealer I got the 400 quote from didnt seem to know and thats why I dont. this price above may be just for me since I buy stuff from lexus-parts.com regularly and have been told by the above guy exactly thats why the prices I have paid are low... repeat customer. not bragging but I am just letting you know what happens when we support a vendor here.

digital_b, those 2 P/N's indicate the stock '01-'03 LS tailights (left and right) on the body. This seems to contradict your prior post shown below:
jeez the 04 tails fit my 01 and cost 400 from the dealer.
We all know the '04 tailights have the clear middle strip, LED bulbs and a different geometry than the tailights in the '01-'03 LS. Hence from many previous discussions, there is no way for the new tailights to directly fit into a '01-'03 LS. Sorry but that's the unfortunate truth..

I believe the outer part of a 04 taillight will fit onto a 01 without any problem.
But the inner part (the part connected to the trunk) will not fit, you'll have to buy a new trunk lid

It should look good, since the trunk mounted part of the taillights are already clear backup light.

Edit:
Oh right, lexusk8, I totally forgot about the LED part

sorry but that isnt common knowledge. it may well be true but I havent seen any discussions about it. if its true then it sucks but its not something thats obvious or discussed often from what I have seen here or elsewhere. bubble burst.

135000 yen / 109 (exchange rate) = $1238 USD
I can say it's bread supply for at least one year
