Rebuilt Alternator??
My alternator seems to have given up. When I check voltage across the terminals it never goes above 12.5V - which is what it's at when off/idle.
My car is a 91 - with 180K miles. Not sure if power steering pump contributed to the failure, but I should know tonight.
Can they rebuild this at an alternator shop? Even if it was ps fluid dripping in to the alternator?
Checking out reman. units from the normal shops, but was curious as there is a rebuilder near by.
Thanks
Andrew

Here's a way to save you money. It didn't help me because I had to learn it the hard way. I bought one from a Salvage yard and the brush was almost worn out and it had wrong plug as well. Waisted $100.00. Here's what I did:
Took the alternator off. Removed shield plate and other screws from the back of the alternator. Swap alternator's reg & brush (one piece). You can purchase this from the Toyota dealer for $25.00. Dealer should be able to find the part #. Install the alternator back in.
Work for me since 222,000 miles. Now I got 245,000 miles. Note that if the armature(center rod) is worn too much were the brush does not make contact you may need a rebuilder.
