Are you losing power steering fluid? You might check the level in the reservoir.
When the air control valve in the bottom of the power steering pump fails, power steering fluid can be drawn into the intake manifold through one or both of the two hoses that connect the power steering pump to the air intake system. This fluid burns off when you crank the car, making a white smoke that lasts just a few seconds.

if you look at your power steering pump there is a small vaccum hose connected to it , two of them its like 3/8 of an inch in size if you follow the routing of this vaccum hose, one is connected to your intake past the maf sensor, the other is connected right in front of the throttle body just below the lexus logo, if you pull this out youll be getting fluids which tells you the air control valve is kaput ,
now on the power steering pump if its not leaking then you dont have to replace it, but if it is now is your time also to replace it, cost anywhere from 150 to 300 depending which way you go dealer or aftermarket rebuilt

I can't give you a picture of the ACV. All my cameras are stone-age models, i.e., they use film.
It screws into the bottom of the power steering pump. The part number is 17630-16040. It should be available at both Lexus and Toyota dealers, but it would likely be cheaper at the Toyota dealer. The cost when I bought mine was $68.97 plus shipping. This was from www.toyotaworld.com.
I would certainly replace this part before I even considered replacing the entire power steering pump. Leakage through this valve is a very common problem on early LS models.
You could stop the fluid loss by removing the two hoses from the air intake system and sealing the ends with screws or something similar. You should also seal off the two places where the hoses connect to the air intake. This would probably make your idle speed drop a little bit, but you may not even notice a difference.
