Yes, this is a crazy question. The WHOLE automotive world would be setback 10 years if there was no LS, that is how important this car is.

But say, there was no LS but Lexus did exist, what would you drive (like Acura having no true flagship)?

I voted the Lexus GS simply because I can never see myself driving an LS or a 7-series Bimmer and most of the cars you listed!

The only other cars I can see myself driving are the 5-series Bimmer (previous generation) and Benz E-class (current generation)!

I'd go with a Merc E or S. I've always loved the way Mercedes rides-they all feel like they weigh 5 tons, but the complexity/lack of reliability of the car kinda scared me off.

I'd likely be driving a Toyota Avalon or have a second Camry in the garage if there was no LS. I seriously doubt that "The WHOLE automotive world would be setback 10 years if there was no LS". The 1968 Mercedes 300SEL 6.3 V8 sedan provided similar performance and comfort (even standard air suspension) many years before Toyota thoiught about creating the LS400.

The GS in a heart beat.

You do bring a thought up: if Lexus did not exsist...Toyota Avalon. On the pre-owned side, a Toyota Cressida from '85+.

If Lexus did not exist, probably Mercedes. But I went with the GS because that car is moving on up!

Death Before Dishonour. Any RWD before a FWD. No Avalons
My brother-in-law just purchased an Avalon, and it is nothing but a fancy Camry, same feel. No magic. But then, he thinks my LSes are nothing but fancy Avalons, he just can't tell the difference. The Gen 1 92 LS with 225k miles is a much superior car to the 1998 Avalon.
Cressida anyday man, anyday. She was underpowered, but a joy to drive.
I'm just joking with you RA40, don't take it the wrong way

LOL...yanking my chain.

This was exzctly my situation when I was looking for a car...had to be RWD. No way was I going to buy German and the Q45 didn't fit us in any way. Funny that a seat with that much adjustment still could be dialed in. No Lincoln and that left the Avalon by default at the bottom of the buy list. She did liek the 350Z but that wasn't

The Mrs. is with you... to the Avalon. Otherwise, I'd have a black on black '02 XLS.

Cool

I voted other for the Aston Martin. It's not cheap but you only live once and this car is on my list to get! Along with every other classy car on the market!

Beemer 7
That design speaks to me as much as LS does. I'd know how to tune it up right too.

Once you go back (RWD) you never go back ( or in this case front FWD)
Yeah, I have a big bad German Benz, she's glorious, and I wouldn't sell her for anything, but deep down inside I know the Lexus is a better car. The S-Class was a life long dream. I had a friend who lived across from a Benz dealership when I was 10 years old. I drooled over the S-classes for 10 more years until I moved away. 27 years after I started drooling I got my Benz. Damn, that makes me almost 40.
