Default Loose seatback....?

hi,
got a 92 w/ power driver seat (obviously).... the seatback has started to become 'loose', meaning one can push from behind and it moves forward maybe 1/2 in. sometimes noticable when stopping quickly-- the seatback moves forward a bit, then back to its place....

any known fixes? is something loose, or is a part wearing? same thing happening on our 97 land cruiser, which has very very similar seats.

Any chair would move forword if someone pushes from behind, but does it move on its own when you break or accelerate?

I have started a thread yesterday about a similar problem, check it out.

hmmm... that's not really true. for instance, the pass. seat doesn't move when it's pushed. it does move sometimes when one breaks harder than usual. it's clearly become loose, and more loose than the pass. side. i'll check out the other thread. thanks.

I guess im not sure what you mean by "moves forward". Some light play is normal, but it sounds like its more then that if its bothering you while you drive.

I just started having a similar problem in my 96 SC4. My drivers side seat is fine, except I can push on the back of the seat and the left rear "lifts up," and I can move the seat more than it should. Im thinking that a bolt in the rack that the power seat is controlled on has come loose. I will investigate further when time permits.

hi,
i mean with maybe 5 lbs of pressure on the back, the back moves forward then stops as if it hit the limit of its travel. like a bolt is coming loose. again, the other seat doesn't do it...
