Love the ride! Car looks great with those wheels and tint. 2x

I noticed in your earlier post that you mounted 235/50/18 instead of the stock 245/45/18.
I did a little research using the tirerack and noticed the following:

1995 Stock Tire Size---Standard--------Front Optional---------Rear Optional
16 inch---------------------225/60-16
17 inch---------------------225/55-17-------225/55-17--------------245/50-17
18 inch---------------------235/50-18-------235/50-18--------------265/40-18
19 inch---------------------245/40-19-------245/40-19--------------275/35-19
19 inch---------------------245/35-20-------245/35-20--------------275/30-20

The tire size for 1995-2005 are all the same.
The only difference is that in 2004-2005, Lexus used 245/45-18 instead of the tirerack's 235/50-18.

Questions:

1.dolefee- Why did you choose the 235/50/18 and not the 245/45/18 ? Was there a fitment issue?

2.dolefee- What brand tires do you have? Are you happy with them?

Check out the following site and see how your tires compare to stock:
http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

According to that site, the 245/45/18 is a better match to stock than the 235/50/18 .

I guess it’s because he wanted to avoid the harsh ride with low profile tires, and cutting a bit on tire costs.

Note: In result, the car handles slightly worse then it should, and sits higher, give it that 4X4 look.

However, it all depends on your priorities

I went with the 235/50/18 oppose to the 245/45/18 for (2) main reasons:

1. The 18" OEM wheels are 18 x 7.5 and MY rule of thumb is that an 8" width should call for 245s.

2. I wanted to maintain the stock ride comfort as much as possible, and I think I was successful at that.

I have ALWAYS lowered my vehicles, but I have no plans to lower my LS. I just wanted a better looking stock wheel. I have about a 3-finger gap in the front(due to the front wheel well being cut higher for steering purposes) and a 2-finger gap in the rear. As for the tires, I went with the KUMHO ECSTA ASX and so far I have no complaints. Quiet, 420 treadwear, and at a good price.

The Kumho ECSTA ASX in the 235/50/18 are only $120 at the tire rack. That's a great price for a tire that size that performs well for you. They don't make it in 245/45/18.

93LS, keeping in mind that I have the same setup as you, but with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires, my calculation turned out to be 34.9 psi.

Most if not all factory Lexus wheels are a direct swap onto the 1st gen LS.

SC430 wheels on my '91.

dolefee, wheels look great on the car even though it's not lowered.

You guys are killing me!!! I love the look of your car. I must admit that my 2 favorite wheels have to be dolefee's 5 stars and your SC430 wheels. They look like they belong there. I'm just loving the Diamond White Pearl now

No, 2nd gens have the bigger 4-piston caliper, so fittment is an issue with most of Lexus' wheels. The SC430 rims DONT fit the 95+ LS.

So are there any factory wheels that do fit the 95+ LS?

I believe the '98-'00 LS400 and '01-'03 LS430 wheels will fit....possibly the '04-'05 as well.
