Default Electrical Problems

I just recently bought a 97 LS400. The car looks and rides great. Earlier today i took it to a shop to have it detailed inside and out and they also cleaned the engine. Well when I picked it up and started driving the check light and trac control light blinks and my car seems like it misses. it has a vibration to it now when it idles and sometimes when I accelerate. the guys at the shop had to have gotten something wet to cause this to happen. I don't know a whole lot about engines but my guess is they got a plug or some type of sensor wet. Has this happened to anyone else?

well if they cleaned your engine bay they either used water or a steamer, it possible they wet some of your sensor or sensor connections, its also possible they got water into the valve cover area. If you can just let your motor idle for 10-15 minutes and see if it burns off te water. If not what ever they did might have fried from electronics. Take it back, complain and scream if you must. bring in a written letter stating the damages you found after they touched your lexus. In the letter give them 15 days to recitfy the issue and give a penalty of post 15 days if they havent made an attempt to get a 3rd party mechanic involved that you will sue them for any liable damages. Typically this will scare companies into fixing it with no hassel.

Take it to a nearby autozone, and they will read the code for free. Then report back here with the code, and we might be able to help you.

i had the same problem when i pressure washed my engine. what has happened is water has got into your spark plug area and the engine is missfiring due to the water. you have to take the valve covers off and dry off the plugs and wires. you will be back into business.

FYI people, autozone no longer reads codes because they got a class action law suit because they were reading peoples codes telling them they need to replace this or that and then sold them something that wasnt broken to begin with. they do not check codes anymore i went to 4 autozones and 2 kragens this past week
