One interesting thing I'm noticing on these threads is the fact the some people own mutiple LS's at the same time. I think that's a testament to the quality of the vehicle.

I had seen many Lexus' on the road, but one really does not know how the cars are until there's a test drive taken. The thing that initially hooked me on the LS was a trip I took to Florida last year. We had some time to kill one day and visited a Lexus dealer in Sarasota and drove an LS 430. That test drive was an experience like no other and was embedded in my mind, but I was not prepared to actually buy a car then as my Maxima was in good shape. As my daughter turned 18, I begin thinking about a car for her and I didn't want to take the risk of getting an unknown used car and was considering giving her my Max instead. In the midst of my deliberations, a friend stopped by to give me a ride in his 1997 LS with 150K miles on it. I was quite impressed and decided to look on the web to see what pricing was. I liked what I saw and ultimately wound up with my 96 LS.

A good used LS is not a bad idea to pursue. I generally buy used cars anyway because I believe in letting someone else pay for the depreciation. I think these cars are particularly a good deal (assuming you get one that's been well cared for).

I know right? I've only been exposed to 1st gen LS400s but i am hooked. No other cars for me... except for a cheap little miata and maybe a cadillac sts.

LS400 are awesome deals because its like buying a new car(if you get a clean one) without a warranty(not like you really need it) for less than a kia rio (well maybe more depending on the year)

Omar, you're right. Buying a well cared for used LS is like buying a new car of any other make. I saw a poll over at one of the other forums that showed that most people own the 1st and 2nd generation LS 400. I guess this is so because of the durability of these cars over the long haul. A lot of folks are running these cars up to 200K+ miles without a problem, plus the design is timeless. I'm very happy with my purchase

My last vehicle was a 2006 IS350 (details in sig)
Prior to that I had a 2004 Toyota Matrix XRS

in all I've had 17 Toyota/Lexus vehicles in the last 11 years, some Supras, some MR2s, mostly cars of the fun variety.

Current 92 LS400 Currently with 260,000 miles I have had it four years now

I had:
98 Acura Integra GSR 3 1/2 years- Stolen
94 Acura Integra LS 3 1/2 years- Totaled into a ditch, convinced if I had the stability bars of the GSR I would have made the corner
87 Toyota Celica GT 5 years - Traded in for the Acura
80 Datsun 510 1 1/2 years -totaled .. Not my fault,,like that matters my first car my parents bought it new

Come to think of it I have only traded one car in. That will probably continue seeing that I do not plan getting rid of my LS. All I have to do is stay away from deer. I have hit two since I have owned it!

'92 Infiniti G20 (Someone else wrecked)
'90 LS400

My track record isn't so good, but I hope to keep the Lexus alive for another 200k miles.
