Ok Guys, I have post similiar polls in the GS and SC section...now it's your turn...

I am thinking about getting custom made STB done. For the LS's, I am thinking about doing every body style LS (Gen 1, Gen 2, Gen 2.5, and of course the new LS430.

I just wanted to gauge the interest in this. It will most likely be either Tube style (like the TRD one) or billet bar style (like the RMM) version. I am thinking about offering it in a brushed finish or some type of powercoated finish...In any case, it will not be anywhere in the vicinity of half-***. If there is enough interested, I will see if I can bring one to the next Club Lexus meet (maybe raffle it off)

The cost is still up in the air but I plan on keeping it below $250.

Let me know how many people would be interested...

Wouldn't you rather have one that's made specifically for your car rather than "mickey mousing" it?

Also, I don't recommend putting washers UNDER the STB...it creates more stress on the bolts (unless you're using a PLATE that's a similiar size to the plate on the STB...)

I'm interested. Is ~$250 for each, or both, or do you even have plans for a rear? I'm under the impression one will cause under-steer or over-steer without the other. Is that bull****? Can you refer me to a thread in another forum that this has already been discussed?? Regardless, I'll take it.

Oh Yeah, I have a 93 LS. I just figured you have everyone's car memorized by now.

I'm interested, but do not like the tube style at all.
I like the billet style like a actual TRD STB for the Supra.
Are we going to have choice of colors too?
Keep us updated Manaray, thanks.

I agree with Lou. The tube style sucks ***. I like the billet (color choice???) and the ones you have, but that's just me being picky. Imagine that, a Lexus owner being picky!!

Doesn't matter what style for me, as long as it's available and looks attractive (just polished aluminum for me please). And yes, I would get it ASAP (LS430 of course)

Lou Le - For the first set, I plan on making just polished and brushed aluminum bars with black brackets...

Most likely, it will be BAR style as I'm looking into doing FORGED bars...if those are too much, then I'm going to do bar stock aluminum...I have my feelers out and I'm waiting for several Aluminum companies to get back to me...

See now Manaray, you just made me lose faith in you for taste.
I can't believe your doing tube style because they are just ugly!
They don't look as strong as the billet style of the TRD and Cusco bars, plus looks too (umh how do I put this without offending anyone) cheap.

I don't mind the color or the aluminum but please no tubes!
I guess I have to wait and see before speaking any further on the matter.
Maybe a flat oval tube style?

Ok boys and girls, here is what I've got so far... (I thought I posted this is the LS forum...guess not!)

I have been contemplating different materials for making the STB's. Of course, the natural choices were Steel and Aluminum. Steel being 2x stronger than Aluminum but weighing about 3x as much (about 2.9x to be more exact).

Now considering that I have to make these things THIN w/o sacrificing strength, I looked into something that I think is a near perfect metal...Titanium. It's as strong as steel and only weighs 60% more than Aluminum.

The only downfall is the cost. Titanium costs a lot more. I am talking to a Titanium specialist (who specializes in Titanium frame structures) to see what kind of deal I can work out. If I can not get the bars built within a reasonable price, I will have to look into aluminum (but I think I'm going to make one for myself!)...if that's the route I need to take, then I am going to go with a high grade Aircraft quality aluminum.

Lou Le - The TRD STB for the GS is a tube! What are you talking about? Why such hostility toward Tube STBs? Did you get beat by one as a child?

I think the tube ones you've seen are the cheap type (like the factory Honda Civic SI one...looks like a pencil).

The bar, if made from aluminum, will be (if you take a cross section) like a rectangle with rounded edges (like the RMM one but w/o the cut outs).

If it's made from Titanium, it'll most likely be a oval "tube" because if it was solid Titanium, it would be like $500 for each STB! Trust me, I plan on making it strong no matter WHICH style is chosen.
