Brake warning lamp ??? LS 400
My 1992 LS 400 has a warning light that stays on. As I am still waiting for Lexus to mail me the owner's manual, I do not know what this lamp is for.
This is the same lamp that lights up when parking brakes are on. However, when parking brakes are released, the lamp remains, only that it is not as bright. What does it signify? No the parking brakes are totally released and the light still stays on.

May be a brake or taillight bulb out... I don't have the same gen LS so can't say for sure other than a warning light definitely pops on my 98 LS when a bulb burns out in rear.

Hmm just replaced the brake lamp bulbs and the warning light is still on. Just got my manual and it says that the light has 2 functions. One is to tell you that you E brakes are on (the light is brighter) and if the light stays on (light is still red but not as bright) after you release E brakes than maybe brake fluid level. But my brake fluid level is fine. Anyway to check if sensor if bad.

The brake wear sensor is not a Lexus strong point.
It tells you that either your front or rear pads or worn, but does so at a cost. It cannot be reset & is expensive to replace. Sensors are only on the front & rear passenger side, btw.
Some people I have read about here have had success soldering over the sensor plating that creates a circuit & using it again.
I pulled the dash light & monitor pad wear more closely.
good luck, damon

Ya.. I have a 1gen LS .. but.. never had that problem. I believe when one of the brake lights go out there is a sepr. idiot light on the dash that lights up.. I had mine light up when a ear brake light went out and the dash light is a yellow`ish color showing a picture of the car w/ dash's around the back of the car.. obvs ... refering to the rear brake lights .. not sure why your parking brake light stays on.. have you checkd your fusses?

I have been searching the forum and some have mentioned that the brake fluid level sensor can be faulty or overly sensitive. Suggestions are to overfill the brake fluid a little. Going to give that a try

I think the brake fluid level sensor is not working. When I disconnect the wire leading from the brake fluid cap, the light on the dash goes off. I wonder if there is any possibility to clean the sensor.
