Looking at a 2000 LS 400 Good Price?
#16
Vicpai- Are you saying that I should just forget about this one because its got the Nav? I think it looks better with the nav unit! lol.. I really don't know how useful that nav would be to me. Maybe I'm not even gonna use it, it just looks cool i guess. lol.. Thanks for the info, didn't know it was THAT outdated!
JLAWS- What kind of other cars can 20k get me? I kinda like the 2000 LS body better than the 2001+ ones. I think I'm gonna keep this car for awhile so I'm not too worried about resale value. Really wish this one was a little less miles.
Damn the 90k service cost alot of money, maybe I'll use that to try to lower the price a bit. Anyone know how I can check if the nav have the lastest update or not? Can I get the VIN and take it to a Lexus dealer to see if the car has any service history? Will they check it for me?

Here is a recent thread on Lexus Owners Club about how electronics guru dcfish adapted an LS430 DVD based Nav computer to work with the 98-00 LS Nav display: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums...opic=25017&hl=
It might make the old LS400 Nav more useful - don't know if dcfish is selling a conversion. I was thinking there was a way to check the hard drive version on one of the Nav menus. Not sure. Here is where I provided instructions for removing the Nav hard drive - perhaps it has a date on it.: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums...&hl=hard+drive
An LS with 85,000 miles could have a whole lot of life left. I sold my 90 LS at 183K miles after 13+ years and the current owner told me last week that it is doing very well at 225K miles.

Otherwise, what Kansas says makes perfect sense. I will however take that a little further and say that you have other options as well. You could probably install the Alpine NVE-N872A Nav system and integrate it into the FACTORY NAV SCREEN. The following company makes an adapter that makes this possible:
www.vaistech.com
Another product you might need is the Alpine V-HUB which facilitates this integration. See link below
http://www.alpine-usa.com/products/l..._tech_vhub.htm
The only disadvantage with the above scenario is that you will lose the "touchscreen" functionality of the Nav.....but this is not that big of a deal because the NVE-N872A is "voice activated" and comes with a mic that intalls in the vehicle and all you do is press speak and give instructions in plain english.
And you're right!! there is nothing that beats the "stock" factory screen look, especially on a high-end vehicle like a Lexus. And finally, let me second what Kansas mentioned above. 85k miles is not a big deal for a Lexus. More important than just the miles would be it's SERVICE HISTORY!!. As a matter of fact, I would rather buy a perfectly maintained LS with 100k miles, than one with just 45K miles with an unknown service history. Well maintained LS400s have been known to run pretty much "forever"

You have been looking and asking for a week. If you like the car, the title is clean, the car is clean, and was maintained well, just get it. Forget the price, especially as you said they are not budging any more. The End.
