I'm getting new rims, but here's the problems. The guy at dicount Tires said that the largest width i can do is 8.0. I wanted to get 18x8.5 all the way around but he said that it would not fit in front, he also called the company to do a check. So here the question. does any one here from first hand experience have 18x8.5 in the fronts? or larger? the back will be fine the the front might not...I'm also lowering my car.
thanks

The guy at discount tires likes to have a lot of clearance on when the customer wants to upgrade, to save their butts no doubt.

I have 18x8 but I know for sure you can stick 18x8.5 up front but with a 45 offset.
Your rears can handle up to 18x10 with a 45 offset.
I put 245-45-18 tires on mine and they look great!
The guys at discount also thought those were too big for 18x8 but they liked it after it was on though!

Like Lou Le, I think 8.5" is the way to go up front. A 18" x 8.5" wheel with a +38 offset will sit very nicely. The wheel will be right to the edge of the fender w/o rubbing. +45 will sit in about 7mm more...personally, I like the tires to the edge of the fenders...

Another reason why they said a 8.5" might not fit is because the company that makes the rim you're looking at might not offer a 8.5" wide rim in a offset that would work for your car. The manufactures of mass produced rims usually only produce "very conservative" sizes and widths for most cars. If you want to push the evelope, you'll have to look into a higher end rim...

Don't you already have wheels on your LS? I thought you had some 17" something-er-others on there...

yeah i currently have 18's.. i'm going to use my old 235.45.18.. the rims i'm thinking about getting are 18.8.5 Konig Imagine, opal black finish. I like the black look for my car, that's my main point. So you are sure the rims will fit the car? no ruB? 18x8.5 is the next step up from 7.5 for the Imagine, so i'm guess i'm gonna go with the 8.5.. So you guys are sure? The guy said if they rub and the rims are messed he cant fix them..
thanks again.

It depends on how close to the wheel well you want it.
Any where in between those numbers is good and won't rub your fenders.
I just like to make sure it don't rub went I bottom out hard here in pot hole city Houston so I went with 45.
You can go 38 but I'm afraid it might rub a little if you bottom out hard.
I say you get any thing in between these numbers will be fine.

Due to the way the wheels "arc" when under compression, if the wheel doesn't rub when you hit a minor bump, it won't rub when you hit a hard bump (but your suspension might bottom out if you hit REAL hard which it would do regardless of the wheels you have)

+38 is what HRE uses for the front wheel on the LS (and the GS). I have +38 on my fronts and I have no fender edge rubbing issues riding on 20's.

+45 is a ok but will sit your wheel in a lot more. Personally, I like to have to wheels as close to edge as possible w/o rubbing.

But Konig Imagines? Uh, what utter crap wheels. I wouldn't put those on a Civic even...don't downgrade you Lexus! If you like the Mesh look (which is a nice look), why not get some Racing Hart C2's or something? They are avail from 7" wide to 10" wide and up to 19" in diameter. Plus they're a REAL 3-piece wheel and they're made WAY better than that Konig crap.

And a SC wing on a LS? You can MAKE it fit but it would look really stupid. Forget the wing, put the money towards better wheels!
