How do I replace brake lights on a 1992 LS?
As you all know, replacing anything at a Lexus dealer is quite expensive. Therefore, I thought I'd save myself some money and try to replace the burned out brake bulbs on my 1992 Lexus LS. However, when I opened the inside trunk cover to my brakes, I encountered wires and I'm uncertain whether to mess with these. Does anyone know how to replace burned out brake bulbs on this car?
Thanks,
Lena

The brake bulbs are very easy to change, although slightly awkard.
From what I remember, there are two panels, one on each side of the trunk lid that hold the bulbs for the parking and brake lamps.
I believe the bulb socket is held in by a plastic clip and is pulled out.
It's been a while since I changed mine in my (old) LS, I could be of very little help - maybe someone else can upload photos.
Refer to your user manuals for the correct bulb, maybe another user here can post up the bulb sizes and models, or you could try the search function at the top left of the forums.

Could you specify which brake light bulb is out? One of the outer corners? or is it in the middle section closer to the license plate? For the wiring, you won't need to worry about them, since you will only be messing with the plugs that hold the bulbs. You'll need to get a 1157 bulb from Autozone. For the corner brake lights, after removing the inside trunk cover, you'll need to remove the 2 bolts on the side to loosen the tail light piece. I'd suggest tugging outward and pulling at the same time while holding the black part of the corner tail light (this is the area right next to the middle tail light section that can only be seen when the trunk is open). After it's out, unscrew the little screw that holds the wiring to the tail light, and then twist (counterclockwise) and remove whichever plug is holding the dead light bulb. The middle section is a tad easier to do. Just open the flap and unscrew the 2 small screws, pull out the section that holds the brake light and reverse light bulbs, and replace.
