The Celsior(Japan's LS430) is getting 5.0L, V-12(1GZ-FE) engine starting with the '03 model(available in 4/02)

will LS430 get one also? Or will we simply
get a 5.0L version of the current V8 engine?

The magazine, CG, reports that the V12-equipped
Celsior/LS430 goes from 0 to 100km/h(about 62mph)
in 5.2 seconds... !!!

I think we will get the V8,it would make no sense for us getting a V12 and completely jumping over a V10.

I am surprised they are even considering a V12 over there, are'nt they strict one regulations over there?

Toyota(Japan) has always used the same V-12
in the Toyota Century. It is a Japan-only, ultra luxury,
super $$$, big sedan. The Century cost close to
$100,000 USD, in the Japanese market...

It is only natural that they put the V12 engine to use
in the Celsior/LS430. Perhaps they find it cheaper
than developing a new, more powerful V8 for the
Celsior/LS430. All they had to do was to reach into
their parts bin and pull out the V12 and make it fit.
Someone suggested supercharing the current V8,
but that will produce unacceptable additional noise...

As far as I know, Toyota never had a V10 engine
for its passenger or commercial vehicles... The only
company silly enough to do it was Chrysler.(Dodge
Viper and the Ram trucks...)

Naa a V10 is way too brash and loud, it would require too much balancing etc.

We could see the 5.0 liter 12 though.

Just wondering guys? why would they make a V-12 instead of a V-10?

Also why would a V-10 be louder than a V-12?

A V10 is inherantly unbalanced while a 12 has a certain kind of smoothness to it. Notice very few companies have V10s and how all high performance "high cylinder" models are 12's?

Plus Toyota already has a 12, and no 10.

Interesting facts about the V-10 compared to the V-12 Stephen i never new about that.

Hey ToyotaLexus what is the HP on the V-12 if it could go 0-60 in 5.2 seconds would it be around the 400hp mark yet.
