Default This is strange.

While I'm driving, I noticed that every once in a while the parking brake dash light (the one that comes on when you engage the parking brake) comes on and goes off after a second (or two max). This is completely sporadic, and happens only once in a while throughout a drive. What could this be?

I really appreciate it.

Have you checked the brake fluid level?

I appreciate your prompt response, as I need to know whether the vehicle is ok to drive for my tomorrow's 1100 mile trip to the south. No, but I'll be heading over to the garage to check that. Could it be anything else?
By the way, should've mentioned this earlier, the vehicle is a 1991 LS with 93000 miles on it.

Most likely your brake fluid is on the edge of being low and keeps tripping the sensor.

You should be ok. Most likely low brake fluid which can be (recommended) checked by just popping the hood. The fluid level sensor in the master cylinder reservoir is a contact sensor, so it is either on or off. If the fluid is at just the right point it will trigger on momentarily while the vehicle is in motion going over bumps and corners as the fluid moves around in there . Also keep in mind that lowering brake fluid level could indicate either a leak (probably not) or most likely pads/shoes that are wearing out so possibly plan on a brake job as well in the future.

just checked the brake fluid level; it's just slightly above the "min" line. Most likely, as you said, it's got to be the low fluid level. I'd like to go out and buy some fluid right now, so that I won't have to waste time tomorrow morning before I leave. It's Christmas Eve and everywhere is closed, other than 7-11's. LOL, is there any place at all that'd be open for these sorts of emergency situations? I know 7-11 carries motor oil and transmission fluids, but I doubt they'd carry brake fluid... I'll give them a call though,

Thanks for your help,
