I third that. THe oil you put on the filters can sometimes get sucked into the inside of the intake tupe. I had a custom intake Tube on my V8 Lincoln LS and when I removed it, I put my finger up in the inside of the pipe, I could feel some oil. I examined it in the light and there was a perfect right round the inside of the tube about a 1/4 of the way up. I never put much on the filter...maybe 3 squirts at the max about a foot and a half to 2 feet away, facing the inside of the filter down. K/N is good if you want something aftermarket, or something you never need to replace, but they don't garuntee any powergain, and are not responsible for the life of your car. My old car stated having some problems with the intake components and the sensor that determined the heat of the engine went nuts(I hate american made cars), so I got rid of it and got my 99LS! Still love the thing too. Never will I buy another K/N.
