I am about to purchase a new 2001 LS430. I wanted to check with you guys to see if I am getting a good deal.
Black on Black
No ultra luxury (I wish)
Levinson/Nav package
upgraded chrome wheel package
wheel locks and other misc.
dealer told me $57,630, about $64K out the door
Please let me know your input. Sad part was I was looking for a is300/rx300 till I drove the flagship...

Hey Blue and Gold - I just ordered my LS 430 with UL and it came to $66,500 out the door. Here in Oregon, we do not have sales tax, so that helped. Regardless how much you paid, you are getting a hell of an automobile! They are wonderful!!!

lexguynj,
well, free market enterprise gives the consumer the best edge. the gs430 fully loaded can be had for ~50500+fees, so still baout 5k less than the ls430.
but you are abs.right, that is a GREAT price for the LS430 for those who are in the market for one.
keep this in mind, my buddy ships lex across the US all the time. so you do not need to live in LA to get a GOOD deal.

it all depends on case-by-case situation. the freight on flatbed 18 wheeler to the east is ~12-1500, to the middle of us, say texas is 7-900. so when a dealer want to charge you close to msrp, getting the car from la would be ideal.
as far as service, a local lex dealer tried to play the same game w/me by telling me the same thing as you said. the result; i never went back to that place again. imagine this, say i used to live in LA and bought the car here, then i moved to NJ. when my lex needs service, i will of course go to the local dealer. if they do not give me 100%, or gives me an attitude, there is always that 1800# that i could dial to vent my "concern", right?

Feeling better after "venting" to Torrance is the most that you can accomplish by calling them.
Example: I had a weird situation after buying my 1999 LS400. The dealer took 10 weeks to finally get me a Manufacturer's Statement of Origin, that I needed to license the vehicle! After about a month of that crap I tried to get the folks at the 800 number to intercede on my behalf. All they would EVER do was to put me on hold, call the dealer, get the line of crap from the dealer, then come back on the line and repeat verbatim what the dealer told them.
Obviously, I had already heard the crapola from the dealer, and didn't need to have them simply repeating it to me.
In various attempts to find some useful function being performed by the folks at the Lexus 800 number, I have failed every single time.
My brother has a 2000 GS400 Platinum Edition that has a very irritating problem. He also tried to get Torrance to do something meaningful, and they blew him off.
The "relentless" pursuit of perfection is wearing a bit thin.
