Default Should I get it???

I have the opportunity to purchase a 1998 LS400 from someone who lives in my neighborhood. He is asking $11,500 for it (trying to dump it and pick up some money for a divorce settlement). The car has 83K and is in very nice shape. Price seems good, but I do not like the color. The color is GOLD. It is o.k., but not a color that screams out to me.

Any opinions on the price? Any opinion on the color scheme? Is repainting an viable option? or

Thanks in advance.

I dont suggest you try and repaint... too much of a hassle, cost, and issues. Does it have HID's, wooden steering wheel? IF yes, then the price is great. Jump on it if you can get used to the color.

HID's - no. Wooden steering wheel - no. Still a good deal?

Do you think that resale will be more difficult with this color when I am done with her?

What does it matter if the deal is that great and you really don't like the car? Keep your eyes open, you'll find something you'll like better if you aren't desperate to purchase right away.

Also, you're looking at the 90k service really soon on that car, so keep that in mind when it comes to cost.

Might be harder to sell if it really doesn't have many of the desired options and is one of the more common colors. I picked up my '99 from a private seller last November - it doesn't have the Nak system. The prev. owner said about 2/3 of the people that called didn't want to see the car after they learned it didn't have the Nak system.

Just don't jump on the deal if you aren't sure - because you know you'll see one you like even more shortly after you purchase. Good luck.....
