Doc thanks for the quick response. So if I get this valve part number 17630-70020 from toyota or lex , is it a DIY fix or should I have a pro do it. Also id this part called the air control valve?

Thanks again

Default If you guys want I can get each one of you those valves from my man

I have not done it yet because I am waiting on another pain in the you know what TSB part to arrive in the mail. This is a upper control arm on the drivers side.
I can get the valve from my man for those with problems for $50.This Valve is not guaranteed since I got the whole pump from a junk yard.
Let me say this again, this a the whole pump with the valve from my man at the junk yard. The other solution is to pay $260 for a new one.

Ok guys please bear with me, Is the valve a separate part from the p/s pump or is it inside on the the p/s pump. So If I get a new pump will the valve be new also?

Default Do what I did and let's not bother the doc.

He has told us what we need to change.
Do what I did.He supplied a part# and I verified it .Though it was a wrong part#, I found the correct one. With this part# I got a price and then went to Lexus and they showed me the part and it's location on their microfische machine.I also had them print it out.I popped my hood and located it.Just like he said it is on the side of the power steering pump and it is sold separately and tha part is $260 for Lexus and $196 for Toyota. This is hard to describe but you have two small cables from your Plenum/intake, follow those hoses to the steering pump and there you have your valve.

Doc I hope you stick around here for us all and every message board needs a Doc!

Ok stealth I will follow your lead. Please let us know if the pump from the junkyard fixed the problem, If so I think you said you can get them for 50 bucks? If you could I would purchase it thru you and have it installed.

Thanks

fantomd,
I don't recommend pump from junkyard, but if you prefer go to www.yunkyarddog.com and every junk yard that have the parts you ask will reply to your e-mail so you can compare price before buying

Default The pump was sent out today

I shipped a whole power steering pump for Fantomd today and I can gaurantee that it should stop the smoking and the pwr steering fluid consumption. My man at the yard has more and these are coming off toyotas. All you would need is the valve and not the whole pump.Wondering if anyone needs this valve shipped out to them?
