i'm sick and tired of $128 front pads that rumble, throw out tons of dust, and don't get 20k. has anyone tried ebc greenstuff, or another brand? MUST you replace with semi-metallic? i don't do any track driving, only the usual city/hwy. i have a "93 ls.

Unless you ride around with your foot on the brake, Lexus factory original pads should last a very long time. On the LS400 your front pads typically go in excess of 50k miles. Rears 40k +

Aftermarket pads or having your brakes serviced at places other than your Lexus dealership is what usually causes early brake pad failure.

Hey Bogee ,I may get alot of flak for this but ...

I put on BENDIX pads from my local
guy , they stop very well , but probably not good for repeated high speed stops, like you I don't do that kinda of driving , I re-used the shims and clips. 20K and still 1/2 life left, no squeal or rattling I am aware of. $25.00 bucks. front set.

AXXIS metal master.. i had those on my LS. They are great, semi metallic with none to little break dust. they ran me about 45 from front and 50+ for rear. EBC are great, my friend has those on his 93 Legend, works great.

I'm ordering PBR metal masters for my 90 LS. They are semi-metallic, very low dust, and supposed to last longer than the stock. Full set (both axles) $90 shipped. They might be worth looking into for your 93. That cost is less than I *was* being charged for stock replacements.

I may get replacement rotors from the same source. Bradi cross-drilled, slotted, and zinc-plated. Bradi is made by Brembo. Fronts and backs for $240 (+ shipping). Hoping to lessen brake fade and brake dust.

I'm looking to order brake pads for front and rear of my '92 LS. The cheapest I get for Axxis metal masters is $102 shipped. Any body got a better source?

I don't believe in the service from the dealer that has better quality than other places. It's just a big "RIP OFF" image that many people have. The problem is just the person either lazy or lack of the experience to do the job. I have a friend who is a leader at a Toyota dealer and works there for 20 years. He told me a lot of horrible jobs done by the dealer. Also, myself had several bad experience with the dealers' services. Right now, I do everything by myself. Also, believing in fairy tales by the dealer saying aftermarket parts create problems this and that is so innocent. It's just the problem of how much you want to spend your money on aftermarket parts. There're many aftermarket stuffs out there exceeds dealer parts quality several miles away. Good luck in finding your needs!

Anybody have any suggestions for a 97 Ls? I want something similar to a Hawk HP pad and I have had no luck finding anything.
