hello,
it will be great if anyone can answer my Q.
i would like to know the size of the rear factory (not naka.) sub in 98' ls400. ( i think it's blown. i tried some D&B) it looks like 8' but to make sure. no mods, i just want to replace aftermarket sub.
what kinds of watts and specs of aftermarket sub should i get???
i personally like Focal and looking over ebay and stuffs.
thnx.

Acutally I think it is 10in Blitz.About the wattage and ohms and stuff I do not know.I do not think it is a 8in because after 92 the LS's had 10's I believe.
Hey Blitz next meet is on Sept 28th friday.Check out the TeamLexstacy forum for more info on the meet.

I wanna have some bass but not to much and plus I do not want that big box in my trunk any more.
What would be a good price for that jl 8ib4?
Bltiz I am not sure about the rear sub because I have not really looked at the 98LS models. But Since 92 the LS's have gotten 10in's in the rear all the way to 97,so I presume the 3rd gen LS would get the 10 as well and not be downgraded back to the 8in.

blitz, i used to run shocker mice but have sold them, i went into sq for a while but wasnt feeling it just yet (spl brings me more business, and if im going to need 1000 watts and more than one woofer to penetrate the ls4 trunk, i'd rather be running spl). the only thing i dont like about atomic thunder (aka shocker audio) is that their customer service sucks.
not really sure about how much those jl 8ib4s costs, but im guessing around 80 bucks or so. thats about the going price for a 8" free air sub (there arent too many), give or take 20-30 dollars depending on the brand.
about the music taste, there are very few 8" free air subs. the oz is the most sq oriented, while the kicker has the best power handling. there isnt much of an spl difference (real world, not on a mic) between an oz pushed with its rms wattage and the kicker, so my choice would be hands down the oz. i do not really comment on the jl because a)i've never heard it (as opposed to the other two which i got to install/play with for quite a while b) it is an 8 ohm woofer. i can only make an educated guess on the free air pioneer as i am running a 15" c version (regularly enclosed) and it is darn efficient. i don't go by factory measured sensitivity ratings as most of those are meant for advertisement purposes and not real world figures, but in general the ts 203/253/303/383 woofers were really efficient.

the old atomic company was a different company than atomic thunder (which is now called shocker audio). the atomic company came out with some good stuff, mainly their hpw line (really efficient). i havent heard much from atomic lately.
