Default Trunk Shock/Strut for LS400?

Hi-
Does anyone have a source for new or used Trunk Struts for 97 LS 400? Searched forum, eBay and a few other Lexus sources without much luck.

Does anyone know of a reliable source other than the dealer?

THANKS

Always wondered about changing them as i think mine suck?
Are they supposed to make the lid open at all when the lid is released?
Mine just stays in position but does not move.

They're like around $100 or a little over for the OEM, probably half that for aftermarket clones with questionable quality and longevity.

Readily available and not too hard to change but not super easy either!

Well, I removed the struts and took them to a local Advanced Auto. They matched them up with a pair for $27.95. I removed the retainer clips from the old ones, clipped them on the new struts and it works like a charm!! No Way was I gonna pay 120.00 bucks each at the dealership, and I simply could not find them on the net.

No they are not. I think its better this way, especially when you want to load something thats a little bigger then the trunk.

The trunk ones are not like the hood meaning that they lift hood.
The trunk ones only holds trunk lid in fully open position and do not raise the lid.

I am just used to Benz style ones which half open first.
Also in the manual it says the trunk opens to a halfway point before you have to open it the rest of the way.
