Default LS430-6 airbags vs 8, 14

Does anyone else think it is odd that the ls430 only offers 6 airbags while the S-class haas 8 and the new 7 series will offer up to 14. Even lower models such as the a6, 5 series, and e class either offer 8 airbags have them standard or optional. The ls430 is missing the rear side airbags that most of those cars have. Does this make the car less safe?

No, no, no. This has been debated ad-nauseam. The LS430 is the safest vehicle ever testes by the IIHS. The BMW and Mercedes models will have airbags in stupid places, like for the knees. Your knees shouldn't contact anything in a crash, therefore negating the purpose of said air bags. The dummy's knees never contacted the dash in the LS430 crash test, so having them would be more dangerous then not having them. If the BMW and MB people have not designed their vehicles as well as the LS430, then maybe the extra air bags are justified.

Those tests are for front impact, not side impact tests. The extra airbags I'm talking about are the two rear side airbags (not the curtain or knee bags)

My dad blew his knee out in a car accident man...He also has wrist bone explode too. The knee was fixable but his wrist, even post surgery, chronicly hurts him and he has problems bending it for things like golf because it starts to throb....

Yeah, the new Seville or SLS or STS or whatever are good, but older ones, like pre-1997, didn't do so well.

I had a 95 STS, and was shocked when I saw the safety ratings.
