Help me decide on a 90 LS/to buy or not
I am looking and thinking about buying a white 1990 LS 400. It has air suspension, Nakamichi sound, heated seats, trac,cd changer, moonroof, leather, all options. 153k with the original owner and tons of service records. runs really good except has these problems...air con doesnt work?any ideas what that is? display for temp and clock all messed up,cd changer and tape deck not functioning, have to hold the steering wheel to the left to go strait(maybe alignment?) It is very good cosmetically and otherwise functions normal. I like it alot and it would be a good compliment to my 1992. Oh it also has the lexus phone? is that any good nowadays? could i use it for anything or is it just gonna take up space. the leather is perfect and it is a nice car. he is asking 4750? what should i offer and what are some common probs with the 90's? thanks stoked

Stoked your LCD is leaking and you will need a new one,it will cost about $500 or more.As for hearing about the conditions on the LS with the steering and AC.I would not go for this LS those repairs might be costly.152K miles is not alot though,I have seen some with way more than 300k on it as long as the engine has been matianed.

Three things to look at:
We had a '93 with the air suspension. To replace the front shocks was $2,400.00. We sold it before the rear shocks needed to be replaced, but they will run you about $1,600. The front were replaced at about 125K miles and we sold it at 133K miles. If they have not been replaced on this car, you will probably need to plan for it.
Also, inspect all of the major body panels for the factory VIN stickers. If any of them are missing, it is a good indication that the panel is not original.
Lastly, the rotors were known to warp quite easily (too thin) on the '90 models. Check to see if they have been upgraded to a newer rotor.

Well,
I just got a 1990 Silver LS 400. I needed a daily driver. it has 124,000 miles. the body is good and the history is ok too. I got it for $8000. I am pretty happy with it.
I got the 1990 instead of newer version is because of the HISTORY of Lexus. 1990 was the first year car. I told my friends that the car is 11 years old and it runs like a 2001 car. I am happy with it. Once again, its 11 years. Little things here and there is normal.
go for it!
