Yello Fog Light for 1st gen. LS 400
Hey Gang,
Have you guys noticed the ugly yellow fog lamps on our first generation LS 400? I took the fog light out few days ago. The bulb is white, but covering is yellow. I am thinking about change the yellow color into hyper or super white bulb. The bulb is a H3 light bulb.
The only way i know how to do it is by breaking the yellow lense. Any other idea? I am thinking about getting super white for my fog light and HID for my head light with clear corner.
Man, it sounds illegal, but i am older enough where cops do mess with me.

On my 92 LS I took a pair of diagonal cutters and removed the metal shroud and then the yellow cover comes off. Amber fog lights are a big plus if they can be turned on alone, but Lexus doesn't allow them to be turned on without the bright white headlamps.

It is not a conventional H3 that you see in the honda foglights and stuff it does not have the wire plug in like the conventional H3.
You need the H3C one.
Raybrig and Koito have these H3C,the Koito are in short supply and I would just get the Raybrigs.
David I would just upgrade the bulb and keep the yellow cover,it will look awesome with the HIDs.The person behind you will be like dam what the hell is that behind me.The bright yellow with the combo of your HID's will attract more attention.
Breaking the yellow sleeve is the only way to achiev this look.

I would suspect that if you were to put a "hotter" bulb, or even a relatively cool HID bulb, in the fog light fixture of an early LS, the bulb would soon overheat and burn out. It's been awhile but as I remember it the metal "shading" shroud over the yellow glass filter covered, restricted about 90% of the bulb's light output.

I did a search on the net today and compare the price for the Raybrig and Koito. The WHITEBEAM H3C is about $44.00 and the Raybrig is about $109. Anyone have any experience with either company?
