well... i have a 98 and i am a gadget freak... the car has right now 142k miles... went with a complete front suspension rebuild and rear shock and springs... a few other goodies with it.. the car is REALLY nice.. i REALLY like it... i love the looks.. the sound and all...
I would go with the 2001 plus because of all the nicer things.. one thing i hate.. i can't install an ipod to my factory stereo![Frown](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)
Either way you go.. you will not regret it...
the 2004 i would love to get ahold of for the 6speed tranny... i guess my next project will be.. installing a 460 engine and trans in here.

Skytrain, I have the same problem. I am currently looking for a buyer agent to represent me at one of the larger auctions. Some years ago, I had an arrangement with a Lexus dealer, but that connection has long vanished.
No ipod for the 2000 Factory stereo? Dang it. I wanted to hard wire my ipod into the console. I thought that I could use a FM transmitter/power cord connected to the radio? That way, when the radio is tuned to 87.9 or whatever channel, your ipod would provide the input to the radio via the FM transmitter. The signal would vary on location, but it may be better than nothing. Have you considered this?

Fangtl, I understand that.
Here is what I was thinking: my FM transmitter plugs into the cigarette lighter (i.e., to power the ipod). In other words, it acts as a FM transmitter and a power cord. In this instance, the FM transmitter could be hard wired to car. I believe that the FM transmitter (and ipod) would operate with the radio tuned to the appropriate channel.
Good point blange400. This will be my fourth LS. No matter how beautiful the car, you can always over pay for it. I am looking for a reasonable deal, it probably won't be rock-bottom, but I can tolerate reasonable.

when u say hardwiring the ipod its assumed that ur talking about wiring an Audio signal from the iPod to your HU somehow.
